The tour begins at our meeting point on the Plaza de Armas in front of Starbucks, next to the Church of the Society of Jesus (Iglesia De La Compañia De Jesús). At 10 AM our Cusco city tours guide will be waiting for you in a t-shirt bearing our grey logo. Our morning together will start with a brief introduction to the origins of the Incas and pre-colonial Cusco.
We will then be visiting the ancient Inca walls that are still standing today, which were part of Incan palaces and the Temple of the Sun. As we set off to another Inca ruin, we will be able to see various examples of colonial architecture the Spanish conquistadores left behind.
When visiting the site of the Temple of Qoricancha, we won’t go inside, but you will be able to take fascinating pictures of remains of the temple and the garden of Qoricancha.
At the site of the old Inca palace Amaru Kancha, You will be able to experience ancestral Inca music with original Inca instruments. There will also be an opportunity to take photos with Peru’s most typical Camelidaes – alpacas and llamas. Who knows you might even get a kiss!
Our penultimate stop will be to see the remains of the palace of the most influential Inca king Pachacutec. In Quechua, his mansion is also referred to as Qasana Palace. Find out what it means on the tour. We also pass by the Pukamarka Palace by the Inca Tupac Yupanqui. Our last stop is the Inca Roca Palace or Jatunrumiyuc Palace. There you will marvel at the extraordinary architecture techniques and symbolism in its walls. Keep an eye out for the “Stone of Twelve Angles”.
